Outlander (2008)

First off, thanks to Tito for recommending the following flick to me. It had completely gone under my radar.

Outlander was freaking awesome. Essentially Jim Caviezel is Beowulf from space. As lame as that sounds, they did a really good job with this movie.

I unfortunately had a fairly poor quality version, so I won't comment on the special fx quality, but from what I could tell it was pretty good. Specifically speaking, the design concept on the "Grendel", a.k.a. the Moorwen, was really well done. From a design aspect, the creature was beautiful. All in all, I would highly recommend you see this movie. If you like sci-fi and not fantasy, or vice versa (as if anyone exists out there that likes one over the other), then you will enjoy this flick.

Some notable actors and other work you may find them in:

Sophia Myles as Freya. She did great in Doctor Who Season 2 as Reinette, a.k.a. the Madamme de Pompadour.

Jack Huston was really good in Shrooms.

Ron Perlman was in this, and as usual I had an argument with my roommate because you can never recognize him in his make-up. If you don't know who Ron Perlman is, then your not paying attention, because he has been in almost every notable blockbuster in the last decade, and beyond for that matter.

And of course Jon Hurt.
